Red River Valley family farm with dual corn mazes, Spookley trail, wagon rides, and U-pick pumpkins outside Grand Forks.

Nelson's Pumpkin Patch in Emerado, North Dakota is the Grand Forks-area fall destination — about 15 minutes west of downtown Grand Forks — with dual corn mazes, hayrides, the 'Spookley' kids' trail, pumpkin picking, and weekend haunted-house programming. Family-run smaller-scale operation operating September-October only. Targets Grand Forks-area families plus visitors from the broader Red River Valley region. The flat agricultural Red River Valley landscape is the typical North Dakota farm setting.

What to expect

Drive west of Grand Forks on Highway 2 to Emerado. The patch is signed. Open Monday-Sunday during September-October (limited weekday hours). Park at the main lot. Two corn mazes (different themes/difficulties), hayrides, the Spookley trail (a family-friendly Halloween character), pumpkin picking, and weekend haunted house. Pair with downtown Grand Forks, the University of North Dakota campus, or the Red River State Recreation Area.

What to bring

  • Gloves keep stems from scratching and protect hands in the vines.
  • Bring a wagon or stroller for heavier gourds.
  • Expect muddy spots after rain—waterproof boots are worth it.
