Upcountry Maui's fourth-generation strawberry patch with ocean-view pumpkin hills, keiki gardens, and a busy farm stand.

Kula Country Farms is the iconic upcountry Maui pick-your-own destination — at 3,000 feet elevation on Maui's Haleakalā slopes — with strawberries (April-June, Maui's distinct cool-season berry harvest), pumpkins (October), and a year-round farm stand. Fourth-generation family farm with extensive Maui-grown produce. The 'Upcountry' Maui location (cooler than the resort coast, with sweeping views of the Pacific and West Maui Mountains) is the cultural heart of Maui agriculture. Targets Maui residents and visitors seeking non-resort experiences.

What to expect

Drive Kula Highway uphill from Kahului. The farm is signed at 6240 Kula Hwy. Park at the main lot. Open Tuesday-Sunday (Closed Monday). Pick-your-own strawberries during the spring season; pumpkins in October. The year-round farm stand handles Maui-grown produce and goods. Pair with the Haleakalā summit drive (45 minutes uphill, the famous sunrise viewpoint), the Lavender Farm of Maui (5 minutes east), or the Kula Lodge for upcountry dining.

What to bring

  • Check the farm’s field report before you leave—popular crops can sell out daily.
  • Apply sunscreen and bug spray at the car so it has time to set.
  • Carry reusable water bottles; many farms offer refill stations.
