Athens-area farm with giant strawberry fields, weekday kid zones, and 30+ fall attractions anchored by a mega slide.

Washington Farms in Watkinsville, Georgia is the Athens-area family pick-your-own destination — about 20 minutes south of UGA's campus — with strawberries (April-May), blueberries (May-June), and the marquee fall pumpkin patch and corn maze (September-October). The farm targets Athens-area families and UGA student visitors. The pumpkin patch and the 'haunted' corn maze (weekend evenings in October) are the seasonal highlights. Family-friendly daytime, mildly scary evening haunted maze for older kids.

What to expect

Drive south from Athens, GA on Highway 441. Watkinsville is signed. The farm is on Hog Mountain Road. Park at the main lot. Pick-your-own runs by season — strawberries spring, pumpkins fall. The corn maze (October) and the haunted maze (evening weekends in October) are separate ticketed experiences. Pair with downtown Athens (UGA campus, restaurants) or the Oconee River area.

What to bring

  • Check the farm’s field report before you leave—popular crops can sell out daily.
  • Apply sunscreen and bug spray at the car so it has time to set.
  • Carry reusable water bottles; many farms offer refill stations.
